Oh!!..the agony of having to wrap one’s mind around thoughts of that most beloved of holidays; Christmas. Whilst the mercury soars and the caddis swarm, we have indeed begun to ponder how best to serve our customers through the holiday season.

Our calendar fills quickly during November and December, so if your holiday celebrations include a large family or a business group, please consider us as your winter holiday hosts! Whether your needs include transportation, gifts or simply a delicious meal shared by friends and family, we urge you to plan ahead.

The canyon is magnificent in her winter robes, quiet and far away from the daily bustle.

So as you go about your summer fun this week, pause a moment and consider an Izaak’s Christmas. You won’t be disappointed!!

Just another day in Paradise

It’s easy to take it all for granted when you live in the middle of it. It? Paradise my friends; paradise.
We all work hard at what we do here in Craig and some days the grind is grueling. “Livin’ the dream!” and “Just another day in…” well you know the rest. Both phrases are commonly heard answers to the question “How are you?” Honestly, we are at about the halfway point of our busy season. The river improves daily, the sun continues to warm things up and we’ve all taken a big, deep breath. Just another day in paradise!

Here in our spot on the big blue marble, we boast of big fish and good eats. But rarely do we speak of all the other aspects of Craig that make it so special. Sarcasm could enter stage left at this point, but we’re not going there today.

The climate here is very special. As gardeners, we are able to successfully grow fruit and vegetables in amounts and varieties not seen in many Zone 4 locations.

Positioned as we are along the Central Flyway, the birdwatching opportunities are fantastic every month of the year. Summer’s insect population feeds not only fat fish; warblers, swallows and wrens enjoy the bounty as well; creating an extraordinary birdwatching opportunity!

Our canyon walls are a strong defense against the very worst weather; our nearest neighbors are often surprised that we fare so well through winter storms. Best of all however; are the friends and neighbors who love this little Garden of Eden as much as we do!
Nothing like an itty-bitty Montana town when it comes to community. You just can’t beat a Christmas Eve potluck with 100 of your closest neighbors!

So, if you haven’t ever really spent time here, we suggest you give it a day or two. May turn into a life style; you just never know.
Fish the “Mo”; explore the canyon, catch live music on The Log Jam and dinner at Izaak’s and should you be so inclined, add to the adornments on the front of Uncle Joe’s Craig Bar!! HA! See you soon!!
