To those of you signed up to receive regular e-mails from Izaak’s as well as all the May birthday folks; for several weeks now we have been unable to access the program. This may be due to connection speed, equipment inferiority, or quite possibly operator error!!

In any event, we will do our best to keep everyone informed through the web site. You may also follow us on Facebook. You will find a link on our contact page. The content of our web site is more complete than Facebook, but you will catch more current comments there.

It is raining again this morning; not good news for outdoor music. We are hoping this system will move through in time to dry out for Saturday’s performance by The Perfect Jones. If not…well, we’ll just have to wait and see!

As far as rain and fly fishing, we are often asked by our non-fishy customers if the wet weather is bad for business! On the contrary! Any bug slinger worth their waders is not deterred by a little precip!! They may not stay out as long and will probably linger a bit later at the bar, but tomorrow is another day and any day on the Missouri is a good day!

We had a visit from an old friend yesterday. He’s an outfitter on Rock Creek and had come over with several of his guides to float and fish the Dearborn. Big hugs all around, he stepped back and looks right at me and says ” You guys are so lucky! Your home is so beautiful!”

Once in a while we need to be reminded just how fine it is to be a part of the Canyon. Mother Nature really out did herself on this one. See you soon folks!

…..(insert your name here) and I’m a plantaholic. You know who you are. Don’t be ashamed; you are among friends. We’re the type of folks who never pass a nursery or green house without just a quick peek.

Several hundred dollars and 2 hours later, we find ourselves arranging for delivery of just a few things for the yard!! Ha!

We have a very unique climate here in Craig. Somewhat sheltered by the canyon walls as well as sitting on the river bank, we come close to USDA Zone 5. Simply put, that means we can produce a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

Thus far in the season we have planted the cool season crops such as Tall Telephone Peas and Bloomsdale Spinach. Walla Walla Sweet Onions, Snow Queen White Beets and crisp Red Sparkler Radishes will be adorning your salads soon!!

During the chill of winter, German Queen and Ropreco Tomatoes were seeded in our greenhouse. Genovese Basil, Slo-bolt Cilantro, and Garlic Chives joined the seedling tray. Said tomato seedlings are now READY to be planted!!

Our climate also provides a canvas for a rich population of wildlife! No, I don’t mean the sort of wildlife that goes on after dark under the gaze of the Big White Bar Fish!

As always, The Crew at Izaak’s will be doing our very best to serve only the finest Mother Nature has to offer!! We look forward to seeing you soon.
