We are finally down to the last few days. Our remodel is complete, the menu is written , dishes and silverware have arrived.

Each of us has a check list to work through on our way to opening day!! These are the seemingly endless tasks and details that make a great restaurant.

John has the computers humming along in a refreshed office; printing menus, creating inventories ,guiding us all through each check on our lists!!

Melanie has been putting the finishing touches on the interior, while booking music, planning a Brewfest, (oh yes!) and seeking out the most unique retail goods with which to stock our vintage cigar case!

Chris has the bar stocked, (check the draft list over on the Libations page!), glassware polished, staff hired, and did we mention fresh citrus juice?

Isaac has been busy helping design and build tables,slinging paint and generally putting back together anything we took apart!!

Our newest staff member,Chef Justin Morgan has a check list that is really exciting! Justin is not just passionate about cooking,he’s on fire for great ingredients! And not just any ingredients; the best Montana has to offer. He has been busy for weeks now tracking down the finest and you guessed it, checking them off his list!

We’ll be open Friday, April 2 at 11am with a great lunch menu; dinner begins at 5pm. Please call ahead and reserve your table!!

…..can only mean one thing! Misty mornings filled with bird calls and anticipation!

As an avid life long gardener, I can’t say enough about this particular season. The smell of freshly tilled earth, the challenge of crop placement, and of course, Izaak’s preparations for a new season.

We’ve increased our garden area considerably this year! More tomatoes, peppers, basil. What does that mean to you as a guest at Izaak’s? It means that our menu will include all the wonderful vegetables our gardens produce.

A plump flock of robins arrived this week in Craig, a sure sign of warmer days. Several cases of plump Montana raised poultry arrived as well!! You can’t tell me you’re not salivating at the thought of a Hot Turkey sandwich made on fresh bread! Garnished with local veggies!

Only 10 days until we can all enjoy Izaak’s cuisine again!!

Guess that about covers it. Yes, this really is a great place to work and yes, we work really hard. But the perks that go along with life here in The Canyon cannot be measured in dollars and cents.

The remodeling is nearly complete! Paint drying, stone polishing,table building, window washing…. YES! And of course, Mr. Pex.

The ever watchful Whiting Farms rooster on loan to us from Kirk Evanson. Mr. Pex spent the winter over at Heckert House, standing next to us on the desk as we slaved over the keyboard.

If you believe the slaving part, then you got to know we’ve picked it all up and moved operations next door. Now slave driving really begins!!

Thanks to the folks over at Headhunters Fly Shop for keeping the countdown current! Double Thanks to the crew at Uncle Joe’s for staying open all winter; your presence as beer tenders allows us to remodel guilt free! Wouldn’t want the canyon to go dry!
